This project involved designing packaging for a snack brand that emphasizes its use of natural ingredients, specifically mugwort and grains, in a convenient stick format. The brand wanted to highlight its use of ingredients from nature, making this a key marketing point for both online and offline sales. They particularly sought to focus on the mugwort element, requiring a design that would effectively communicate the natural and healthy qualities of the product.

Project Goal
The primary goal of this project was to create packaging that not only exudes a natural, earthy feel but also solidifies the product’s image as a healthy snack. The design needed to clearly convey the use of natural ingredients while drawing attention to mugwort, the star ingredient. It was also crucial to develop a packaging design that would work effectively in both digital and physical retail spaces, ensuring the key marketing message was front and center.
Design Journey
During the design process, one of the biggest challenges was aligning with the company’s specific visual requirements while working around their decision not to proceed with a traditional photoshoot. The brand was very particular about how they wanted their product to be represented but did not want to rely on actual product photography. Instead, I collaborated closely with the client to conceptualize the desired imagery, ensuring it met their expectations while adhering to the natural and healthy themes of the product.
Design Solution
To overcome the photoshoot constraint, I used a combination of existing high-resolution images, enhanced through Photoshop, to create a realistic and cohesive visual for the packaging. This process involved extensive image compositing to produce a natural look while maintaining the necessary resolution for print. The choice of green as the highlight color helped reinforce the natural origins of the ingredients, particularly the mugwort, while the overall design remained clean and minimal to emphasize the product’s healthy and organic feel. Meeting both the technical and aesthetic demands of the client was a rewarding challenge that resulted in a successful final product.
